Forming in March 2005 when bass player Danny asked vocalist Simon Steel if he was interested in joining a small project (Elrazor) he had going with another mate Gavin. The early Elrazor jammed for about two months before placing ads for drummers all around Melbourne. After that failing to produce anyone worthwhile, Danny tried another approach. He decided to ask every person at a metal nightclub called DV8, if they were a drummer.

The first person he asked was Laz an experienced rock and metal drummer who was keen as hell. After meeting with Laz he informed Danny that of one of his mates Tommy was looking for a project. So Tommy started to jam but soon realized he didn’t really want to get too serious so he stepped aside. As Elrazor continued to jam, the street attitude was evident.

The toughness of those early tracks provided a backbone for what was about to happen. They got to work, wrote more and then suddenly, shockingly, Gavin announced he was leaving. Lucky for Elrazor, Simon knew an experienced guitarist looking for some worthy band mates. In walked Jimmy, an exceptional musician from the east side with a brutal technique and song writing talent.

Suddenly what started as a small project had now become something serious, so it was full steam ahead, song after song.

After the material for the first album emerged, Elrazor decided they needed a lead guitarist.

After placing an ad on Melbourne music web forum www.melband.com.au, Danny was contacted by Mark, a solo wizard with a lightning bolt technique who was keen to get rocking. After quite a few gigs around Melbourne, Jimmy had lost interest in the band and left after recording the 1st Elrazor demo.

Simon, Danny, Mark and Laz pressed on, until Elrazor decided to part ways with Laz, due to directional differences.

So soon after asking around for a new drummer, Danny brought another mate down to have a jam. Alex fit right in and the sound was starting to become complete again. After some discussion, Scott, a long time friend of Alex was asked to pick up the axe and join the band, Scotty is a great guitarist with a matching great attitude to the music.

In another blow to Elrazor, Simon the long time front man, also lost interest in the band and bowed out gracefully, but as luck would have it, Alex’s brother in law Pete, a vocalist, was looking for a band to join, so Pete came down met the band, tried out and nailed the job.

Come 2008 Scotty decided he wanted to head in a different direction and left the band to pursue he’s dreams and we wish all the best in the future. So came time again to look for another guitarist which is always a pain but Tony A close friend to the band offered to fill in while we continued the search. After a hand full of shows we ran into Dean a long time friend of Pete’s who happened to be available so he auditioned and there was no denying that we had just found a new brother he was the complete package.

Finally Elrazor were complete once again.

Look out for a first full length album DOOMSDAY out late 2009

Now all that’s left is for Elrazor to work on its new and improved material. And it’s going to be louder, faster, heavier and more metal than ever before.
